When AutoCAD's price makes sense — and when it doesn't.

AutoCAD fits better if…

You use its specialized toolsets (Architecture, Mechanical, MEP, Plant 3D, Electrical, Map 3D), you build on ObjectARX or .NET add-ons, or a client contract requires AutoCAD itself. Then the subscription buys things other programs don't have.

A one-time license fits better if…
