How it works, in 90 seconds

Five kinds of animation

Move the camera the way the project needs.

Walkthrough

The camera walks along a path at eye height and looks ahead, around corners and through doors.

Flyaround

The camera circles a building from above and keeps looking at its middle.

Orbit

A turntable around a product or part at eye level: pick a circle and a target point.

Materials & lights

The Realistic style shows the materials and lights in your drawing; a close orbit makes the reflections move.

Fly-by

Camera and target each follow their own path, so the view sweeps across the model as it passes.

Try them yourself

All five come with progeWALK as sample drawings, with the paths and step-by-step notes already in them. Open one and type PWRUN.

One drawing, any look

Line drawing, flat colour or realistic.

Hidden

Clean lines with hidden edges removed, like a hand-drawn perspective.

Shaded

The drawing's own colours, simply lit. Fast to render and easy to read.

Realistic

Materials and lights as you set them in progeCAD.

The same walkthrough, rendered three times: only the visual style changed. Conceptual, Shaded with edges, Shades of gray, Sketchy and X-ray are there too.

How it works

Four steps, all inside progeCAD.

  1. Draw the path. A polyline, arc, circle or spline where the camera should go. A second path or a point can be the target.
  2. Start progeWALK. Add-On tab → progeWALK, or type PROGEWALK, and pick the path. Enter accepts every default.
  3. Check the estimate. Two timed test frames tell you how many frames, how long and how much disk space before it renders.
  4. Get the video. A progress window shows each frame; click Open video when it is done. Stop at any time and resume later.

Options

Set it like a camera.

CameraA path (polyline, line, arc, circle, spline or ellipse) or a fixed point, with an eye height above it.
TargetLook ahead along the path, a second path, or a fixed point, with its own height. Corner smoothing keeps turns calm.
Lens & speedLens length in mm (wide to telephoto); walking speed or total duration; 10, 12, 15, 24 or 30 frames per second.
Visual styleRealistic, Conceptual, Shaded, Shaded with edges, Shades of gray, Sketchy, X-ray, Hidden or Wireframe; Advanced 3D Styles on supported graphics cards.
Video360p, 480p, 720p, 900p or 1080p as MP4 (H.264), WMV, WebM, animated GIF, AVI or a PNG image sequence.
RepeatableSave the settings next to a drawing and render it again with one command (PWRUN), or start jobs from LISP and programs.
