In my line of work I need to use software applications which add specific functions to a generic CAD. Are there any applications for progeCAD?
Thanks to progeCAD’s powerful programming API (support for Automation programs), the construction of simple routines or complete and complex applications is very easy.
In particular, we develop low-cost packages aimed at various markets.
There are also available on the market third party products by companies other than ProgeSOFT North America.
Thanks to the high level of compatibility between the programming interfaces of progeCAD and AutoCAD, it is very easy to adapt existing applications to this platform.
Thanks to the increasing diffusion of IntelliCAD, we believe that many of the applications currently on the market for the AutoCAD platform will continue to be ported to progeCAD IntelliCAD.

Where can I download progeCAD if I need to get a backup?
It is not necessary to download a new copy of progeCAD when you buy the software since you can simply register the trial version previously installed.
However, if, when you downloaded the first time you did not select save but rather run (in IE) then you may not have stored the install to your hard drive to eventually burn to a CD for backup.
You can easily get your download by going to the link provided in the email we returned to you with your serial number. If you have misplaced the email or having trouble locating it we have copied the download link below for your use.
As of the start of 2011 all customer’s who purchased on our shopping cart will automatically have an account setup here, on the main website, which you can use the same way you use your account login on the shopping cart. For customer’s purchasing before 2011, you will need to contact us and request an account be set up for your use in obtaining downloads from the members only download page.
Once you have joined and logged in you should end up on the Members Download Page under the Download page. Scan the page to find your particular version and then start your download. This time make sure you choose SAVE rather than RUN (if using IE) to allow you to save the file to your desktop so you can easily find it later.
After the download completes make sure you copy the file to a CD and keep it in a safe place with your serial number so you can re-install when something happens to your computer.
To install, simply double click the downloaded install file and the install process will begin. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your progeCAD Installation.
Now, burn that install to a CD or copy to a USB drive and put it in a safe place for a backup.

The progeCAD software keeps asking for an authorization code but never sends me one in my email after I register. How can I get an authorization code?
You can obtain a code by registering your software. If you do not receive an authorization code via the email address you enter (only for progeCAD 2008 and older, 2009 does registration without email) you may need to use an alternate email as the server may not be able to get the email through to the email address you use. Remember that our email domain is not the same as the manufacturer who supplies the authorization code. If you have problems we recommend you use a gmail account which is free and can be signed up for easily. We know that domain will work. Other online email service providers have problems such as yahoo or AOL. If, after trying the alternate email address it still does not issue the authorization code you can use the fax option rather than online, and instead of faxing to progeSOFT, send us the file it produces and we can follow up with the manufacturer and they will issue a new authorization code manually.

How do I register my progeCAD software?
Registration is built into the products, via web, email or fax. To register your products you must have a valid serial number, and obtain an authorization code from progeSOFT. When you start up progeCAD select the button which says I have a serial number, register progeCAD. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and then provide the registration information requested. Your product should self register at that point.

My Computer Crashed/I Bought a New Computer, the trial version is about to expire, how do I unlock progeCAD?
To unlock progeCAD once you have moved or had to reinstall it, simply go through the registration process using your serial number. The serial number was sent to you when you purchase progeCAD by email.
If you have misplaced the serial number email we might be able to find your serial number if you care to contact us using the form provided via the contact icon at the bottom of this page. If we can not locate your serial number in our records we will need to contact the manufacturer to obtain it and it providing the number to you may take several days.

I inserted a bitmap image in my drawing and now I cannot re-open it anymore. What should I do?
This problem arises from the use of the ‘Paste Special’ command used for inserting an image.
If you have this problem, you just need to delete the file with .vbi extension and the same name as your drawing found in the same directory as the .dwg file.
The drawing file can then be re-opened and the inserted bitmaps deleted.
To insert images without incurring into any problem, use ‘Paste’ or, better still, the commands of the ‘Image Enabler’ module found in the drop-down menus of ProgeCAD.
Image Enabler allows the user to have a control of images directly integrated within CAD and to set the parameters relative to light, transparency, position with respect to vectorial graphic entities (front, back), etc.

I inserted an OLE Object and now I cannot open it anymore. What should I do?
This problem arises when external references (Xrif) are used and its re-occurrence can be erratic.
It could happen even after opening and saving the drawing several times.
It relates to all OLE objects that can be inserted (images, Excel Spreadsheets, Word Documents, etc.)
If you have this problem, you just need to delete the file with .vbi extension and the same name as your drawing found in the same directory as the .dwg file.

I tried to open an AutoCAD drawing and my progeCAD disappeared, what can I do?
Despite what Autodesk claims, their products don’t alway save their drawings without errors within their DWG files. Use the recover command from within progeCAD to “clean” up your AutoCAD drawings and then save and load them into progeCAD!

I can’t seem to use copy and paste to copy one drawing to another, what can I do?
The reason could be that the drawing from which are copied entities was closed.
— Make sure the file from which they were copied entities is still open.
— If it proves closed: open the file of the drawing of origin, select entities to be copied from the Edit menu and choose “Copy” or “Copy with point basis.”
— Open or move in the drawing of destination without closing the drawing of origin, Edit menu and choose Paste “or” Paste in Coordinates original “.
NOTE
The right way to copy is always use the command “Copy” from the Edit menu.

- I cannot print my drawings?

- Printing rotation doesn’t work?
Can I use AutoCAD’s fonts (the .SHX files) with ProgeCAD?
Anyone who owns a regular AutoCAD licence can use, besides the numerous fonts available with ProgeCAD, also the fonts supplied with AutoCAD.
To do this, open the Tools menu, under Options in Path/File, in Fonts add the fonts’ installation path. For ex.: C:\Programmi\AutoCAD R14\Fonts. For the 2000 version of AutoCAD the simplex font can be found \Support directory. You can add this path too (For ex.: C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Fonts;C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Support) or copy this font to the folder \Fonts of AutoCAD 2000. This guarantees a perfect display of any project using the simplex.shx font.
If when ProgeCAD was installed on your PC an AutoCAD installation is already present, the font path will be automatically added to the standard ones.
The fonts used for the drawings text depend on the texts style.
With ProgeCAD it is possible to specify the font to be used in place of other fonts.
Sometimes it may be necessary to use only some types of font for a drawing, or to convert the fonts used into different fonts.
To this purpose the font mapping tables can be used.
If for example drawings are shared with other AutoCAD users, a font mapping table can be used in order to specify the alternative font
ProgeCAD must use for the text originally created in a different font.
The font mapping table (FMP) is an ASCII file containing a font mapping for each line.
Each line contains the basic name of the font file (without the path) followed by a semicolon (;) and the name of the alternative font file with the relative extension (for example .shx or .ttf).
It is for example possible to type the following string in a font mapping table in order to specify that the romanc.shx font file must be substituted by the IC-romans.shx font file.
romanc.shx;IC-romans.shx
ProgeCAD comes with a default font mapping table included in the file ICAD.FMP, which is stored in the ProgeCAD folder.
This file can be modified with any ASCII text editor. It is also possible to specify a different table file in the Options dialogue box or by means of the FONTMAP system variable.
How to specify a font mapping table
1 From the Tools menu choose Options.
2 In the Paths/File list
3 Insert the mapping file name (.fmp) in the ‘Font Identification’ box
ProgeCAD’s original setting uses icad.fmp; if no substitution of font is needed, delete or rename the ICAD.FMP file.

While using the program, the pointer leaves a trail on the drawing area. How is it possible to eliminate this problem?
To eliminate this problem, it is necessary to reduce the hardware acceleration of the graphic hardware. To do this, in the Screen section of the Windows Control Panel, use the advanced settings relative to the graphic hardware’s properties.

When I open a drawing done with AutoCAD the text is not properly aligned. How can I solve this?
It is a matter of font. The drawing opened uses an AutoCAD font. Anyone who owns a regular AutoCAD license can use, besides the numerous fonts available with ProgeCAD, also the fonts supplied with AutoCAD. Just open the Tools menu. Under Options in Path/File in Fonts, add the fonts’ installation path. For ex.: C:\Program Files\AutoCAD R14\Fonts. For the 2000 version of AutoCAD the simplex font can be found in \Support directory. You can add this path too (For ex.: C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Fonts;C:\AutoCAD LT 2000\Support) or copy this font to the folder \Fonts of AutoCAD 2000. This guarantees a perfect display of any project using the simplex.shx font.

The movement of the cursor on the drawing area is erratic; what can I do?
This is a problem that generally depends on the settings of the FlyOver snap (advanced snaps).
Fly over snaps are a special mode of object Snaps which allow a user of ProgeCAD to display immediately the relevant points of objects (endpoint, centre, midpoint, intersection, etc.).
For complex drawings (several drawn entities) or if a PC is not very fast, the use of this mode can overload the computer.
Should any problem arise, only one value at the time should be set (for ex. only End, Centre, Intersection, etc.); alternatively this function should be disabled and object Snaps should be used only when necessary by means of the relative toolbar.
To set the Object Snaps, position the cursor over the Esnap writing situated on the right at the bottom of the IntelliCAD screen and press the mouse’s right button.
From the menu, select ‘Settings’
