progeMOVE

progeMOVE moves your progeCAD setup from progeCAD 2022, 2024, 2025 or 2026 Professional to progeCAD 2027 Professional: your settings, search folders, screen layout, menus, command aliases, workspaces, tool palettes, startup programs and your own files. The PDF report with the steps to do it yourself is free; with an unlock code progeMOVE does it for you.

Getting started

Install progeCAD 2027 Professional, start it once (it sets up its own folders at the first start) and close it.
Open progeMOVE from the Windows Start menu.
Choose the older progeCAD to bring forward and click Start migration.
Check the list of everything progeMOVE found. Then click Report (PDF) for the steps to do it by hand, or Migrate to let progeMOVE do it.

Requirements: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit); progeCAD 2027 Professional and your older progeCAD 2022, 2024, 2025 or 2026 Professional (English) for the same Windows user. The older program may already be uninstalled, as long as its settings are still on the PC. No administrator rights are needed.

Installing

Run progeMOVE.exe (download: files.progecad.us/progeMOVE.exe) and click Install. progeMOVE is installed for the current Windows user in %LOCALAPPDATA%\progeMOVE, with progeMOVE and progeMOVE Help in the Start menu.

Choosing what to move

The first screen lists every older progeCAD Professional version and profile progeMOVE found, newest first. The one you work with is selected already; pick another if you want. Each run moves one profile — run progeMOVE again to move another one too.

After Start migration you see the plan: everything progeMOVE found, grouped, with tick boxes. Untick anything you do not want moved. Some items are always moved with the new profile (settings, screen layout, PDF printer).

Files marked “changed by you, or progeCAD's own file from another update — please check” start unticked when they would replace a progeCAD 2027 file. Tick them only if you edited that file yourself.

The free PDF report

Report (PDF) on the plan screen saves a PDF with the exact steps for the items you ticked: every setting you changed and how to set it, the folders to add in Options → Paths/Files, how to bring your menus and aliases across in the CUI editor, your startup programs for APPLOAD, and which files to copy where. It opens when it is saved. The report is free, with no unlock code.

Migrate (automatic)

On the plan screen click Migrate. The first time, progeMOVE asks for your unlock code (see Unlocking).
Close progeCAD if it is open — progeMOVE asks you to and waits.
progeMOVE shows what it is doing as it goes; it takes about a minute.
When it is done, click Open progeCAD 2027. It starts with your settings, menus and workspace. Show report lists everything that was moved, and the fix for anything that could not be.

Your setup arrives as a new progeCAD 2027 profile named Migrated from progeCAD 2026 (with your version's year), which is made current. Your other profiles are not changed, and your old progeCAD is never changed — progeMOVE only reads it.

Unlocking

Buy an unlock code at progecad.us/buy-progemove; it arrives by email (PM-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). In progeMOVE click Migrate (or Enter unlock code at the bottom of the first screen), enter the code and click Unlock. Unlocking needs an internet connection once.

One code unlocks progeMOVE on one computer. On that computer you can run Migrate and Undo as often as you like, and unlock it again with the same code after reinstalling Windows. To use it on another computer, write to [email protected].

What is moved, and how

Item	What progeMOVE does
Settings (options, system variables)	Only the ones you changed are carried; everything else keeps progeCAD 2027's own new defaults. Settings that depend on the graphics card or on the program version are never carried.
Search folders	progeCAD 2027's own folder lists, plus the folders you added. Your folders stay where they are.
Screen layout	Your workspace, ribbon or menu bar and colour theme. The “Select user interface” and power-plan questions at start are switched off for the new profile.
Menus, toolbars, ribbon panels, aliases, workspaces	Merged into a copy of progeCAD 2027's menu file, saved as the new profile's own menu file. Changes you made inside progeCAD's own menus are carried too.
Tool palettes	Your own palettes and tools are added to progeCAD 2027's palettes (shared by all profiles of progeCAD 2027).
Startup programs	Your APPLOAD Startup Suite entries are added to progeCAD 2027's.
Your files	Files you made or changed in the old progeCAD user folder (linetypes, hatch patterns, plot styles, printer settings…) are copied to the same place in progeCAD 2027's.
PDF printer	The old version's built-in PDF printer is switched to progeCAD 2027's.

What is not moved

Add-ons from other makers: install their progeCAD 2027 versions. Our own add-ons (progeEARTH, progeBILLD, progeTABLE, progeWALK) are at progecad.us/products.
Your LISP programs are not changed — progeMOVE moves how they are loaded.
Printer names saved inside your drawings' page setups: choose the new printer when you next print each drawing.

Undo

Before migrating, progeMOVE backs up everything it will change. To go back: close progeCAD, open progeMOVE and click Undo last migration. The migrated profile and its menu file are removed, the profile you used before is made current again, and the shared files (tool palettes, startup programs, copied files) are put back as they were. You can also simply switch profiles in progeCAD's Options → Profiles.

Troubleshooting

Message	What to do
“progeCAD 2027 Professional was not found… or it has not been started yet”	Install progeCAD 2027, start it once, close it, then click Scan again.
“no older progeCAD Professional (2022 or later) with settings to move”	progeMOVE looks for the settings of the current Windows user. Sign in to Windows as the user who worked with the older progeCAD.
“non-English progeCAD is not supported yet”	progeMOVE v1 moves English installs. Use the steps in the report as a guide, or write to [email protected].
“progeCAD is open”	Save your drawings and close every progeCAD window, then click Retry.
Unlocking cannot reach the service	Check the internet connection and any firewall, then try again.
“This unlock code is already registered on another computer”	Each code unlocks one computer. Write to [email protected] if you replaced your computer.
An item in the final report says “To finish by hand”	The fix is next to it. Everything else was moved.

Files & uninstall

progeMOVE is installed for the current Windows user in %LOCALAPPDATA%\progeMOVE; its Undo backups are in the backups folder there. To remove progeMOVE, open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find progeMOVE and choose Uninstall. The backups and the unlock stay, so a reinstall can still undo and stays unlocked. Your progeCAD settings are not touched by uninstalling.
